Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, the Responsible Person must make sure that emergency routes and exits have suitable emergency lighting where needed if the normal lighting fails.

Emergency lighting must be subject to suitable maintenance and kept in efficient working order and good repair.
